  1. Why should I consider permanent makeup?
Permanent makeup is a great procedure for people with loss of skin pigmentation, thinning eyebrows, thinning lips, and for those who have allergies to conventional makeup. Permanent makeup allows you to avoid the daily application required with traditional makeup. Unlike traditional makeup, permanent makeup will not smear, smudge, or run during your daily activities.

Permanent makeup may be applied to any part of the body but is generally applied to the face. The most popular procedures include enhancing the eyebrows, altering or enhancing the color of the lips, adding color to the lash base (permanent eyeliner) and adding color to the lip border (lipliner). These permanent makeup techniques can enhance your natural beauty and give you a more youthful, rejuvenated appearance.

    Eyebrows

Permanent makeup applied in the region of the brow mimics the natural hair of the brow. This can provide an appearance of fullness for anyone who has lost some of their eyebrow hair. Unlike an eyebrow pencil, you are able to go about your normal daily activities without worrying if you will accidentally smear or smudge your brow.

    Eyeliner

The application of permanent makeup to the lash line can give the appearance of a definite line or a more subtle shadow in the lashes. This permanent makeup procedure can be liberating for those with an allergy to traditional eyeliner or for those with contact lenses that become irritated with over-the-counter makeup products.

    Lipliner/Lip Color Enhancement

Permanent makeup can not only improve the color of the lips, but the lip shape can also be improved, giving you the appearance of more full, sensual lips. This technique can also camouflage those fine lines that begin to appear around the mouth with age and eliminate the appearance of lipstick bleeding onto bordering skin.

  2. Is the permanent makeup procedure a painful procedure?
Because needles are piercing the skin, permanent makeup does cause some discomfort. There are many ways to control the pain, including but not limited to, topical and local anesthetics. Talk with your permanent makeup professional about the method or methods they use to minimize the potential for pain during the process.

  3. How permanent is permanent makeup?
Permanent make-up is as permanent as a tattoo. The color will fade and change over time due to exfoliation (skin flaking), exposure to sun, after-care application or the person's own body chemistry. Generally however, it does not fade entirely. Permanent makeup procedures can be performed again if fading occurs.

  4. If I don't like the result, can the pigment be removed?
There is no "magic wand" for removing unwanted permanent makeup from the skin, and it's neither easy nor inexpensive to remove pigment. In extreme cases, the pigment can be removed with minor surgery, dermabrasion and/or laser treatments. Sometimes it can be removed with chemical peels or other type of chemicals.

  5. How do I find a permanent makeup professional in my area?
You can look in the yellow pages under permanent make-up, permanent cosmetics or plastic surgeons. Better yet, please feel free to contact Permark for a referral to someone in your area. Before having a permanent makeup process done, be sure to ask the permanent makeup professional about how many years of experience they have, whether they use sterile products and what type of anesthesia they recommend. Also ask to look at their work on other people in "before-and-after" photos.
